Items may be returned within 30 days of delivery if they are unworn, unwashed, and in their original condition, with the original tag attached and all packaging included. We encourage you to try your garment on at home to ensure the right fit and feel. The tag can stay in place while you decide, as it helps us confirm the piece’s original condition for returns.

For best results, follow the care instructions on your garment label. To preserve the quality and shape of your Èidean knit, we recommend professional cleaning. When storing, fold your garment in a cool, dry place, away from heat and light.

Our garments feature a single minimal tag, placed for comfort and ease. You can keep it in place or remove it once you are sure you will be keeping the piece. Please note that items cannot be returned without the original tag attached, so we recommend waiting until you are certain.

Èidean (pronounced ee-den) takes its meaning from the Gaelic Dùn Èidean, which translates to “fort of Edin.” The name began in ancient Celtic as Din Eidyn, referring to the hill fort that would later become Edinburgh, Scotland. 

When Scottish settlers founded Dunedin, New Zealand, they drew directly from that same Gaelic root. It was there that the Porteous family built their life and work in textiles, carrying Scottish knowledge of wool and weaving into a new environment. 

Èidean brings that history together. The name connects the family’s Scottish beginnings to their New Zealand heritage and represents the same values that define the brand today: craftsmanship, care, and continuity.
